For years, I used to believe that the people who loved me should just know what to give me.
I’d leave hints. I’d say what I wanted out loud. I’d even send links sometimes — thinking I’d made it easy.
But then the moment would come — a birthday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day — and the gift wouldn’t match the vision I’d carefully curated in my head. And I’d feel a mix of disappointment and guilt. Disappointed that I didn’t get what I wanted. Guilty because I knew they’d still tried.
It wasn’t really about the gift. It was about wanting to feel seen and valued — wanting someone else to make me feel special in the exact way I imagined.
But here’s the truth that shifted everything for me: No one is more responsible for celebrating me than me.
I Made a Decision
One year, after another quietly disappointing birthday, I decided I was done waiting. No more hinting. No more hoping someone else would get it “just right.”
I booked the dinner I wanted.
I bought the dress I’d been eyeing.
I planned the experience I’d dreamed of.
And it wasn’t because I didn’t love the people in my life — it was because I finally understood something deeper: I am worthy of celebrating, simply because I exist.

It’s Not Selfish. It’s Self-Honoring.
We often wait for the perfect partner, the perfect occasion, or someone else’s permission to feel celebrated. But when we learn to give ourselves the things we desire, we stop outsourcing our joy.
There’s something powerful about deciding: “I’m not waiting for someone else to treat me well. I’m treating myself like the woman I’ve always wanted to be.” That shift isn’t about the price tag. It’s about the energy. It’s about knowing you’re deserving of beauty, joy, and intentional moments — even (and especially) when they come from you.
Start Celebrating Yourself
Whether it’s booking a trip, buying the bag, taking yourself to dinner, or creating your own milestone ritual — it all sends the same message:
💛 “I see myself. I choose myself. I honor myself.”
This isn’t about being independent for the sake of it. It’s about building a life where your joy doesn’t depend on someone else doing it for you. So if you’ve ever felt that quiet sting of unmet expectations — this is your permission to stop waiting and start giving. Because you deserve to feel celebrated today.
Why This Matters at Turron House
This personal shift is one of the many reasons I created Turron House. Our portrait experiences are about more than just beautiful photographs — they’re a celebration of self.
They’re for the woman who finally decides to stop waiting for the “perfect moment” and chooses to create it for herself.
Because you are worthy of being seen, celebrated, and honored — exactly as you are, right now.
